Best Time to Visit Tenerife
Tenerife is a genuine year-round destination — but the right month for you depends on what you want from the trip.
| Month | South coast weather | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dec–Feb | Mild, ~20–22°C | Peak winter-sun season; busiest and priciest with northern European visitors escaping winter |
| Mar–May | Warming, ~21–24°C | Good value shoulder season, reliably pleasant |
| Jun–Aug | Warm, ~25–28°C | Peak summer for European school holidays; hottest, busiest with families |
| Sep–Nov | Warm, cooling, ~23–26°C | Sea is at its warmest; good value outside school holidays |
The Short Version
Our take
Because the south coast rarely dips below the high teens even in January, there isn't really a "bad" time to visit for weather alone. If you want to avoid crowds and higher prices, aim for shoulder months (April–May or October–November). If you're chasing guaranteed warmth for a winter escape, December to February is the classic choice — and also the busiest.
